Just because something doesn’t work out the way you had hoped it would, it doesn’t mean that it’s not working out the way it’s supposed to.
Said in another way: when things don’t work out the way you had envisaged, is there are chance that it’s helping fulfil the real plans God has for your life?
I know if I look back and reflect on some of the things that didn’t turn out the way I had initially hoped, in hindsight, I can see it was a blessing – even though I didn’t understand, or it hurt like hell, at the time.
If I had not had the heartbreak of previous relationships, I would not have met my husband and appreciate him like I do.
If my kids had been placed in classes with their peer groups, they would not have had the chance to make the lovely new friends they now have.
Had I got the raise I wanted at the time, I would not have explored opportunities abroad which gave me a whole new adventure and a lifetime of memories!
If the visas had arrived on time, I would not have had the time to do the health check which detected the huge growth in my colon.
The list really is endless when I start thinking about it.
What about you? What hasn’t turned out the way the way you hoped?
Did the sale on your house fall through which means the offer you have put on your dream home will also lapse?
Did your marriage not end up being the forever you had dreamt it would?
Did you not get into the course you had applied for?
Did you not make the sports team you had hoped you would?
Friends, I know. It sucks sometimes. I have had my heart broken in a million pieces too. I do know, that in many instances, time has revealed a much better plan than I could ever have imagined and the pain gave me more empathy for those facing a similar trial.
So whatever it is you are facing – take a deep breath and keep your eyes on the one who works ALL things for the good for those who love Him. Try detach from the way you think it should turn out and leave the outcome to Him. If God has written the plans for your life, then let Him take the wheel and try to make peace with the path you are on. Just because things didn’t turn out the way you thought they should, it doesn’t mean they are not working out the way they are truly meant to be. And open your eyes to the blessings that come from your new situation anyway because there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for.
Now go into the world and SHINE!
